I have been in the Repo business for over 10 years. I have to tell you some of the answerer's you have gotten are REALLY off base. Hmm. One even admits to breaking and entering.

Wells Fargo is a hard one to guess at. I have had them shoot me accounts that were only 14 days past due, and I have had them send me accounts that were 6 months past due. It depends the the Rep. on the account and how backed up that rep.is.

A word to the wise, just because you make 1 payment, that will not bring the account up current and they can still put it out for repo.

Have you spoken to the rep about the account?
Don't put all of you faith in what the rep. tells you either. A lot of times the account rep. will tell you it is OK to make a payment, that they will not put it out for repo. and as soon as they get that payment, the paperwork gets faxed right out to the repo company.

The only 100% sure way to keep it from getting picked up is to bring the account current.

I would call WF and talk to the rep.and explain the situation. See if the Rep. will make payment arrangements with you. If the Rep. will make arrangements with you, ask the rep. to put it in writing "for your records" and fax it to you. Make sure it says in the the fax that under the CURRENT payment arrangements if you up hold your end of them, the car will not go out for repo.

At this point, that's about the best you can do.

You didn't hear this from me, but they can't repo your car if they can't find it. It isn't real hard to outsmart the repo man, but they are very persistent. A good repo man will track you down no matter where you are. They can get you anytime, almost anywhere. Come up with a good plan to keep the car hidden out of site or otherwise completely blocked in whereever it's kept. Many people dump it off at a friend's house or a relative with a different last name. The smarter and more paranoid you are, the longer you get to keep your car, and hopefully catch up on the payments.

I am a former repo man. In any state a car loan over 90 days late we can come and get. I've ripped doors off garages and taken cars, so it does no good to hide it. Your best bet is to either get your car note all up to date, talk to the bank and come to an agreement (get it in writing) on the past due amount, or surrender the car. A repo man will damage the car if he has to to steal it.
