The truck bed is moved using hydraulic pistons (part of the truck mechanism) the bed slides back and tilts. The car is either driven onto the bed, or more often brought onto the bed using a cable and winch. The vehicle is them secured with chains and/or straps, and the bed is returned to its normal position. The truck is then driven to wherever the car is to be taken, and the procedure is reversed to unload the vehicle!!!
