Whats the difference in growth in living and non-living things?

Nonliving things generally don't grow, at least not nearly as fast as living things do. Certain crystals DO grow, however. Generally, the growth mechanisms for living things are much more complex than those for nonliving things.

There is no growth in non-living things so they are dead ones.
