All of us are tribal. Some tribes call themselve the Blackfeet, others call themselves France.

Or do you mean a group of people that are pre technology goat herders? Or even farther back in technology. Because really that's all that defines the level of a tribe in a ranking system.

There are still some groups like the Massai tribesmen in Africa as well as the Inuit in Alaska and Northern Canada for example. PersonallI would prefer to live in a tribal community rather than a "civilized community" I would have no problem giving up the "necessities" of indoor plumbing or running water in exchange for having something to belong to. It is why as you look at the rise of nations that you notice a change in how it's army was composed. When a nation or civilisation was starting out as a tribal society that simply went to war to defend it's farms and hunting grounds then it had no problem recruiting warriors to fight. Even though the armies were small obviously, the warriors were fighting for something that mattered to them.
