i was instructed to put a non oil based antibiotic on my sons stitches, everyone that i looked at has petroleum or other oils as the inactive ingredient. can anyone tell me which brand that would be?

You are looking at ointments. You need a cream. Neosporin comes in both ointment and cream. It is sold over the counter. If there is none on the shelf ask the pharmacist.

Immediately after getting the stiches, within the first few days, use neosporin or bacitracin. Both are good. After that, just keep them dry and clean. Let the air help to heal by removing bandages at night.

always used triple antibiotic creams.clear diaper rash gels works the best,or petroleum.good luck if the Dr.told you .......but if the nurse told you then listen.......

Buy one that says cream, not one that says ointment. Polysporin is better than neosporin.

you may not need it...just keep it clean and the body would do the rest
