Government gives you enough money that you probably won't die. But the cycle is demotivation. Hard to get training and experience on a small budget. Demotivates you, and you end up in leisure activities or crime.

Answer would be to agressively promote training amongst unemployed. You must be either working or training. Offer training at a realistic level. A Certificate 3 gets you nowhere.

Unemployment has varying effects of Australia. Self esteem of the individual, the stigma of being a bludger, it also may cause breakdowns on family units. Those who have never worked and choose not to are given housing by the government. usually in a particular area this can lead to increase in crime in a particualr area as well as substance abuse in varying forms. (due to boredom ect)

Possible causes are not enough skills to get a job, 30 years ago you could find an employer and work till retirement, now the casual work market has replaced alot of full time work. as well as advances in technology. Some people are not willing to move to where work is (especailly unskilled labour) Family ties ect.

a possible solution is to make places where workers are needed more desirable than the 3rd gen Gov Housing rsidence, Possible incentives to find work and keep working ( Look at the Baby bonus!!!) If you combined that with say a relocation allowance and then a 2 year good work bonus. its better than winning lotto and couold almost be a deposite to own their own home.

Effects would be pretty much the same as it would be in other countries. Clogs the welfare system, puts pressure on the economy, etc.

Causes, massive increase of outsourcing of jobs to, for example call centres in India, and the selling off of Australian brands to overseas countries etc.

Solutions. Get rid of John Howard and vote the Labor party back into power. Stop outsourcing jobs and industries and utilise our resources here. Stop selling off our brands overseas, keep them locally owned and operated. Fund more apprenticeships. Make university education cheaper.
