Let them exterminate each other...then take over their land.

The situation is very volatile and complex. Such a thing has to be played out one move at a time. Noone knows the outcome that an imposed policy will have 5 or 10 years down the road, so it is a constant trial and error process. I wish there were a simple answer, but there are too many random variables to try and control. I think eventually people will begin to understand other people's point of view, and people are learning very gradually to be tolerant to other religions and cultures. Nothing will be solved until people can learn to tolerate and set aside old disputes.

To be perfectly honest with you, there's really no resolving it.

Israel had its chance to preempt the Palestinian conundrum back when God theoretically told them to kill every living creature in the Promised Land. Since they decided against that, there is a reasonably legitimate (on both sides) dispute over Palestine.

The US hasn't had balls enough to let its generals fight a total war since WWII, so there is absolutely no possibility of gaining a decisive military victory in the Middle East. Also, the militaries of the Muslim nations haven't had the balls to stand and fight since Salladdin during the Crusades, so they wouldn't stick around to be beaten if we let our generals have their way.

Moreover, the Hezbollah incident has proven that simply surviving a war with a western power is enough to claim victory in the eyes of the Muslim world. As such, the only way to resolve anything in the middle east is exactly the same way God suggested to Israel.

Genocide may be ugly, but it is the only way to eradicate the Muslim nations' desire to destroy us. In the words of Joseph Stalin, "Death is the answer to all problems. No man, no problem."

In the end, however, the United States just doesn't have the stomach for atrocities.

Easy, pull our troops out of the Middle East. We already accomplished our mission. We got Sadam and saw that their were no WMD's. We are wasting too many lives and resources on the war and going nowhere with it. Let the Iraqis take care of themselves-we have done more than enough for their country. If they want to live in ruins and kill each other off, let them do it. Terrorists are everywhere; not only in Iraq and Afghanistan. It is an unrealistic idea to think we are stopping all of the terrorists when much of the Middle East are breeding grounds for terrorists.

I would take all Western Armies out and let them solve their own problems. As for Isreal, the United Nations first offered them Cypress, and the European Jews wanted it, but their leaders insisted on the mainland. Leaders , huh ?
Then again, if the middle East countries shared the wealth with their people, no-one with a full belly and a nice calm life with too much to loose would have made Isreal an issue.
