i woke up yesterday morning with a pain from my left shoulder to my chest area causing me to breathe shallowy.. (the baby has already dropped) the pain is/was so intense i went to urgent care because my OB just so happens to be out of town this week. anyway, they said all that it is a muscle spasm and to go home and take tylenol and put ben gay on the spot. the tylenol didnt work and i was up ALL night in a sit up position on the couch. now my feet are pretty swollen from having to sit in one position all day, the pain hasnt gone away, & i'm still having problems breathing, its worse now than earlier- and i still havent been able to sleep that much. i'm worried- i've unable to get a straight answer out of anyone. wtf should i do in this kind of situation??? is there anyone that had anything similar happen to them? damnit.. it sucks

i had that with all three of my kids right around the last month. it got worse the closer i got to delivery. my dr. told me it is because the baby is taking up so much room, and it is basically putting pressure on your chest with everything compacting so tight.there isn't much room for your lungs to work at complete function. once the baby is born tou will instantly feel the relief. unfortunatly you really just have to deal with it until then, if it is in fact the same thing. it will be worth it in the end. funny the things we go through for our kids.

The muscle spasms are normal at this time and ur right, it really sucks. All you can do is try to find the right position to be comfortable. Try using lots of pillows, but if it's really bad and breathing is too difficult then go back to the ER. Or, even though your OB is out of town you can still call the office and speak with a nurse or different Dr for advice. Good luck, it will get better soon.

You need to go to the labor & delivery department at the hospital. Many ER's are horrible with anything beyond stitches. I would bypass the ER and go directly to the OB department.

Your baby can also be undergoing a lot of stress, if you are. And, Ben Gay should not be something that's recommended for a pregnant woman.

Call your doctor immediately, and call the emergency number or talk to the doctor that's on call. They should not be turning their back on you - and a good hospital would have admitted you, and not turned you loose.

I know it sucks sweetie. As I recall almost everything sucked that far into it. Take some Iburprofen, when I was pregnant last they gave me 800 mlg so I know it's okay to take a few. Make a nice HOT wash rag and lay down with it on your chest where the muscle spasm is. Please turn off all the lights and sounds other than fans before you lay down. The laying will help alliviate your swollen feet and relax you, try to sleep.... think good night baby, we'll see you in the morning. Please give this a real effort. Best wishes

I would go to the ER and ask to see or talk to the OB/Gyn on call. Just go to the hospital and don't leave until they have done a full evaluation. That doesn't sound like a pregnancy issue.

to be in pain for such a long time can't be good, certainly not the least of all your lack of sleep. does your ob have an emergency contact, or alternate ob filling in for him/her while away? (What if you went into labor, are you supposed to wait til he gets back??) does not sound like anything i have ever heard of. trust your instincts, keep searching til you get the answer, even if you have to call 911. your baby's health may depend on it.

Go back to the OR and tell you are getting worse. And ask for an ultrasound just to be on the safe side.

Go to the Labor and Delivery floor at your local hospital

I would go back to the emergency room. You can't be to careful if you think something is wrong.
