NO!!!! DONT DOOO IT!!!! it can make them sick, and once a hamster is sick, it usally dies. Hamsters are very clean animals, they are always grooming theirself, just remember to clean the cage often and if dont let it have poop stickin to its butt fuzz...sounds funny, but honestly it makes them sick, and smell bad.

no. washing hamsters with water that are young and not drying them properly can be dangerous and fatal.
if you have a type of long haired hamster, you should groom it with a toothbrush or sumthin.
u can also put a little tub of chinchilo sand in their cage. they like to bathe in this. make sure the sand is not too thin, for this too can be dangerous to their health.
u'll kno they'll cleaning themselves wen they start rolling on their backs in it.

I have had several hampsters of all kinds and lab rats and animals along that line. My pet store owner told me to get white sand and let them bath in that. It keeps little insects off and keeps the coats nice and shiney.... I keep going to the same store and he has never led me wrong within 10 years. But you can buy the sand at the pet store a big container like 2.50 up to 5.00 it just depends on the brand and size and the store....

the respond is definatly no longer, no remember what the so referred to as "vet" has written in as an answer. they're completely able to cleansing and grooming themselves and in case you watch your hammie you will see him/her try this continuously, they're extemely sparkling animals. the only effect of attempting to bathe a hamster could be one very traumatised hammie and the opportunity of "moist tail" that would finally end up killing the undesirable element!
