there are several possible reasons you could be experiencing shortness of breath, asthma is indeed one of them and yes it can develop at any time in life. Some other reasons could be pneumonia, anemia, internal bleeding( such as from an ulcer ),heart problems such as mitral valve prolapse or allergies. Don't shrug it off...your body tells you when there is a problem by displaying symptoms out of the ordinary. See a doctor as soon as possible for a definitive diagnosis. God bless.

asthma can come anytime in a persons life. Adult onset asthma is common. I have found that family herdity can play a factor in life. Asthma many times is triggered by some outside influence. Or it can be internal with no outside trigger. You should get checked out as soon as possible. As an asthma sufferer I know first hand how bad asthma can be.
