X is a variable so 2 X - 1 means 2 times the variable minus 1 since you are looking for a answer greater than {>} 13 the answer is any number over 7 if you pay attention to your teacher instead of what the girl you like in your math class is wearing that day you would know if you really want the girls learn the subjects I liked the difficult classes in high school because the prettiest girls always wanted me to be their lab partner not the dumb jocks

Do you mean 2x-1=13? EQUALS 13,right? Not GREATER THAN 13?
If so then your magic number (x) is 7.
Do the problem backwards. 13+1=14.Then 14/2=7.
There ya go.

it can be done this way

add 1 to both sides
2x - 1+1 >13+1
2x >14
divide both sides by 2
(2x/2) > (14/2)
x >7.
