Ok, I have had a yeast infection for over a year and a half and haven't been able to get rid of it. I started my period yesterday and my vagina is burning so bad I have to do something to soothe it. I have tried putting cremes and taking a shower but it just irritates it. Its burning so bad its bringing me to tears. I'm going to see the gyno tomorrow but I can't wait....so, would peroxide help or not? Do you have any suggestions?

DON'T PUT PEROXIDE IN IT!!!!

Peroxide is for external use only and putting it on or in your sensitive bits is just asking for trouble. Seeing your gyno is the best solution, but a yeast infection that's lasted a year and half sounds incredibly bad. You should have gone ASAP. It could be something other than a yeasty and that's not good. :(

I would lay off any scented sanitary items and skip the tampons for now.

Actually, you might want to consider trying cloth pads instead of the plasticy ones you buy at the grocery store. You might be allergic to the chemicals in the pads and/or tampons or the ones used in processing.

If you don't have anywhere to get cloth locally, you can try a wash cloth folded in thirds and put in your panties. It works and lets you get better air circulation than the plastic backed pads.

I swear this sounds like a chemical sensitivity more than a yeast. I hope your doc gets you fixed up tomorrow though, it sounds horribly uncomfortable.

If it's just the outside that itches, you might try putting compresses on it...maybe aloe? But I would strongly advise against putting anything in, until after you see your doc.

I don't recommend putting peroxide on it . peroxide is not always a recommended remedy. The vaginal skin is very thin and delicate. I have learned from a doctor that sometimes treating a vaginal infection with a cream can cause the infection to get worse because it can cause fungal problems.

You may have more than just a yeast infection it can be a bacterial infection which sometimes the doctor will give you boric acid capsules to insert and you will FEEL SO MUCH BETTER!

hun first dont put anything on it that a doc hasnt perscribed...not good!! second it may not even be a yeast infection hence why nothing is working for you it may be a bacterial infection which can hurt a bit more than a yeast can. do cool baths to sooth and never use the same face cloth that you use on your vagina on any other part of your body!!! big nono.peroxide will most likely do more harm then good it kills good bacteria as well as bad and may end up hurting you even more in the long run.try an ice pack also, just for your soothing pleasure. please please go to a doc tomorrow as you say you are this can be a bad problem for you!!

Try two things:
1. Eat some yogurt. The natural enzymes in the yogurt will help combat/prevent a yeast infection. Anytime you are put on antibiotics, start eating yogurt. I have recommended this to my friends for years, and it really works.

2. Vinegar (plain distilled white vinegar). 2 tablespoons in cold bath water. Soak. You might smell like pasta salad, but you will have some relief. Just be certain to dry, dry, dry the area as best you can. Do Not Rub!

NOTE: Be sure that you are taking measures to kill bacteria that can exist on underwear EVEN AFTER REGULAR WASHING. Use HOT HOT HOT water to wash underwear, do not wash them with other items, and add a cap-full of bleach to the wash. Dry in the hottest setting possible. Kill the bacteria or the cycle will not end!!

Good luck.

DO NOT PUT PEROXIDE IN YOUR VAGINA! It is meant for external application only. You could try douching, or wait until you see your doc. There are several medications that he/she can prescribe to ease your discomfort. By trying to solve the problem yourself without their direction, you could be doing more harm than good. If you have external discomfort, try a sitz bath with domboro astringent. Good luck.

DON'T USE PEROXIDE
DON'T USE DOUCHES
DON'T TAKE BATHS
DON'T USE FDS OR OTHER DEODORANT SPRAYS

SCRUB AND SANITIZE YOUR TUB AND SHOWER TO GET RID OF BACTERIA THAT LIVE THERE. DON'T TAKE BATHS!!!!
AFTER A SHOWER, DRY THOROUGHLY AND USE HAIR DRYER COOL SHOT BUTTON TO DRY DOWN THERE. YEAST LOVES WARM, WET ENVIRONMENTS, SO YOU WANT TO GET REALLY DRY..

WEAR COTTON UNDIES. SPRINKLE POWDER MADE WITH CORN STARCH IN THEM, NOT TALC.

EAT YOGURT EVERY DAY. IT HELPS MAINTAIN YEAST LEVELS. ALTER YOUR DIET TO ELIMINATE SODA, BEER, JUICE, CAFFINE, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT SUGAR-FILLED OR ACIDIC. DRINK TONS OF WATER AND EXERCISE MORE. THIS WILL CHANGE AND CORRECT YOUR VAGINAL Ph LEVELS.

IF IT'S LASTED THIS LONG, IT IS PROBABLY NOT A YEAST INFECTION. AND IF IT IS, YOU PROBABLY FEED IT WITH THE WRONG DIET. IF YOU ARE HAVING UNPROTECTED SEX, YOU MAY BE PASSING AN STD BACK AND FORTH FASTER THAN YOUR BODY CAN FIGHT IT. OR YOU MIGHT HAVE SOME IMMUNITY ISSUES.

If there is rash than it really is probable the position each and every of the sex has left them chaffed. Which given the sensitivity of that section it would take about per week to heal. If it began to damage like this the day after, i'd say it really is all it really is. If the soreness all started a pair days after the perfect sex i'd say there's a larger situation. If the concern does no longer pass away interior the subsequent few days. (3 tops). i'd make an appointment to be certain your Gynecologist or kinfolk clinical specialist.

I had a wound in my arm they packed with gauze and would repack every other day after cleaning it with peroxide. I felt no pain at all, which surprised the heck out of me the first time. I thought it was going to hurt like mad.
