One thing we did was auction off pies to throw in our teacher faces. The favorite teachers pies started off at 5 dollars all the way up to the principal which started at 20 bucks

Silent auction. Get people to donate things. Everybodys parents work for a company that can donate something, local stores will often donate for local schools. Students can also donate their time ie) 2 hrs raking leaves, 1 grass cutting (be creative) Put a sheet of paper beside each item for auction each with a pencil. On each sheet write the first bid. If you have a pair of professional sports tickets valued at $75, write first bid $25 and list that bids must be in $2, 5, 10 incriments, depending on the value of the item. Invite parents, teachers, community to the gym, serve refreshments. If you have any musically inclined people that would like to entertain, even better. Make an evening out of it. If you offer entertainment and refreshments you can charge a $5 or $10 fee for entry. It is alot of fun. For virtually no cost you can raise a fair amount of money. Good luck and make it fun. We raised almost $8000 for our school.

have you tried doing discount cards? Contact local businesses and see if they would be willing to provide a discount or a somehing free for people who have the discount card (ex. Applebees could offer a free drink with a dinner purchase). sell the cards for $10 . the cards sell themselves. There are also websites that will help you come with cards and stores.

You could also try a Penny War. Break it up by class. Everyone donates their lose change. Each type of coin has a value...pennies have negative 100 value. The jar with the highest amount wins a prize...but you keep all the change.

Finally,

Have a "Crush Day" where people can buy their crush a gift (like a can of crush soda or rose) you deliever the gift to the crush. (can be annoymous or not)

We had the best fundraiser..Not sure if you do it for anything else, but here it is:

Our school was called Nute High, so we held a competition for Mr. NHS... 4 guys from each class, freshman-seniors were voted for and nominated to be in the running... Each class did a skit and there was a cat walk like a fashion show where the guys modeled formal wear, casual, and costume... there were a panel of judges students and teachers who made the final decisions based on points. There were girls in prom dresses that served as ushers to the guys and as hosts of the show. a local bridal boutique donated them for the evening.. kind of like a miss america pagent... I still have all of the rules on it and we sold so many tickets. parents and the public were welcome... it was on a weekday around 7 pm.. Good luck!!! Let me know if you want more info!

I second the entertainment book suggestion and raise you a sally foster giftwrap suggestion. Both are really good & you can raise thousands although sally foster does have a candy line - just rip that part of the catalog out.

Fall is the number 1 season for candles. We have helped thousands of school organizations and clubs raise much needed funds. Plus being a school organization you get free shipping and there is absolutely no up front cost.

I like the recipe book idea... get everyone in the school to bring a recipe home from their parents put them all in a book and sell the books... it doesn't need to be to Fancy. All you would need is lot's of paper and printer ink... or you can get people to donate household junk and have a yard sale with it...

Discount cards/coupons to local merchants. Burger King used to offer booklets of coupons for $5 each, you would get a percentage. Also , try cookie dough. Gas cards for $5.00, get $10 worth of gas.
