Lots of people often feel like that but the major problem is , you got to eat, clothe and shelter yourself. If your into survivalism, then it won't be to hard to find any of the places mentioned above.

The more practical answer may be to learn some new techniques that will help you survive in the world you were born into. This may involve some type of people skills like conflict resolution and cooperation. Also some inward self evaluation like practicing the arts of contemplation and/or meditation.

What I'm trying to say is this: what good would it do if you went away to a mountaintop for years, learned all about yourself and gained inner peace, but then when you came down and if somebody cuts you off in traffic you go ballistic, where's the gain?

Live well, be an example to others.

What a stupid question. Unless you have 10-20 million dollars in your pocket, why even bother? The best place is your room. Just get notebook, go to your private room and write down your thoughts. Talk to yourself about what you want to do in life. You really need to avoid the cliche method of going of to be a hermit. Not only are you committing social suicide but you'll get nothing done. The first thing you notice when you're off by yourself in a secluded area is the amount of free time you have. I mean you literally have hours and hours of free time. If you're simply going off to "learn about yourself". You WILL go crazy. Unless you're extremely patient and wise already, I don't recommend this route. If you can sit still for days on end, by all means go ahead.

Me too. Try the smokey mountains but make sure you have outdoorsman skills such as firemaking without matches or lighters. Know how to fish and catch food and such and learn how to make shelter. You would probably have to hide too because the government doesn't want people living in the the mountains undocumented.
