Get him a great card and write a nice message. Put a picture of you two in a frame and wrap it up. Then give him one long stemmed flower--maybe. lol I would cook him a nice meal or take him out to eat.
I gave my guy friend a card and a framed picture of us and he loved it and still has it with him. That is something that he can keep and treasure.

Some stationary, some postcards, a book of stamps, and a phone card. This is the epitome of the "keep in touch with me" gift :) If you've got a picture of the two of you together, frame it... there ya go!

If you can, cook him a nice meal and reminisce with him about your friendship over the years and tell him how much it means to you. Also, give him something to remember you by, like a picture of you two or something...

You could do what I did for my boyfriend (now husband) when he moved to another state. I took a video camera and visited as many of his friends as I could and had them all say something to him on film (I let them decide what to say...it was more natural and fun that way). I also filmed some of our favorite places and sent it to him. He loved it.

for this kind of occasion, i think its best to make him something like a collague of all your good times together, or a powerpoint of pictures of you two with music and such.
