..as soon as i signed on to this yahoo! answers thingy i have noticed the "rap haters". The little commet "can't spell crap with out rap" I noticed it when I saw some answers concerning rap. Don't get me wrong...every person has an OPINION.To me, rap is like the best music out. You have the Kanye types, the 50 cent types, the Emenim types, The Nas types that just want their voices to be heard and have something that they want the world to hear, no matter if its negative or positive. These people are making millions for what they call "crap" Im not the type of person to just up and go "country is stupid""rock sucks" because I feel that people have things that they gotta do to make livings/purposes in life.Whatever the rappers say in their rhymes is all around the world. Why are they targeting rap completely. Im not looking looking for a debate or whatever,I just want a good explanation of why it is okay to judge the "rap game" completely, especially when the majority rappers are black?

Because people are always looking for something to blame society's ills on. I agree with you as far as to each their own we all have our preferences, which is why when a country or rock question is posted I don't respond, as I do not listen to it, and I don't feel the need to criticize, even though they feel the need to jump in on every rap question with a stupid comment. (How can they say that rap is just noise, when people like Slipknot, etc. are running around with Halloween masks on year round, and just screaming at the top of their lungs something incoherent? And that's considered music, but rap is not? Get real!!) I hate when a parent or the media blames a person's irresponsible actions on ANY music, like saying that Snoop's Murder Was the Case, made a white kid shoot somebody, or the whole reference to Marilyn Manson with the whole Columbine thing. People need to stop blaming music, for a bad home life that spawned deviant behavior. There are a lot of rappers that had a message to get across like Tupac in Keep Your Head Up, Brenda's Got a Baby, Or Wonder Why They Call You *****. But instead of applauding him for his efforts, or simply staying out of it since they don't know or like him, they call him a criminal waste or some other hateful comment. Why do they waste their time, and then why do I waste mine responding back to their ignorance? I LOVE rap and R&B and that is all that I listen to, and if other people don't then great, DON"T LISTEN TO IT! But don't criticize those who do, I mean we aren't going around yelling that country sucks and is all about someone's dog dying, and while they are talking about rap, rock seems to have way more references to doing drugs than rap, we just talk about selling them not smoking (with the exception of some weed references!) them!

To the girl above me, there are alot of rappers thats vocabulary reaches far beyond bitches and hos, try Jay- Z or Kanye West or Common, etc. sounds to me like you don't listen to anymore rap than what comes on TRL!

I don't like rap because to me its not real music its just people talking really fast (talking = cursing, being in general disrespective) and there are studies that show that the kind of music a person listens to influences what they think about a lot. So if you are listening to music like that it cause you to want to swear and be violent and etc.

well i respect rappers for doin wat they do but the lyrics and videos r sooooooooo wrong well and bein a girl seein women wear barely anythin is gross and hearin guys at my age go id hit that and air humpin over my friends is gross. Rock is my type of music it shows more emotion and the lyrics are just like a poem. Country is patriotic and i luv america i just hate its society ang all the ppl in a major political office.

I am a 56 yo white male. I don't like violent rap. I know violence, and it ain't cuddly. I like Eminem, bought "8 mile", LLCOOLJ, KANYE WEST, COOL MOE D, SALT N PEPA, CURTIS BLOW, DEAD POETS, DR DRE,
many others. People who mant to be racist, ignore them, like they deserve.
