There is a lot that plays into support. In many states the judicial system often looks at custody ( how much time the child spends with each parent.) The more time the child spends with a parent can decrease child support. The court system will require that both parents provide income verification inorder to determine child support. If he is married or has additional children can also be considered by the court.

Single moms WORK -- they earn their own income and pay the costs of themselves and their children -- Keeping the roof over their heads, the food in the bellies, and the clothes and all necessities of life.
If you are asking about child support -- it is set by looking at the Income of YOU and the FATHER of the child -- along with the time each of you has custody. Each state sets their own guidelines -- and the determination is made from that information. There are steps where each of you has to identify certain deductible costs (like health, dental, hospital insurance, the cost of going to work, childcare fees).

Try www.alllaw.com. They have calculators for EVERY state. Not completely accurate, but if you know wages and such you should be able to get a fair idea. Remember, expect less than this site says!! Good luck.
