You can actually start working out right away, not strenuous exercises, dont get me wrong!!! When I gave birth, I immediately started doing kegels, tightening my tummy and butt, and very slow walking the next morning. Drink water too, because after birth, I started sweating during the nights, my body was just getting rid of extra fluids from the pregnancy. Watch what you eat as well, remember, once you give birth, you do not need the extra calories anymore, unless of course, you are breastfeeding. But keep from doing the strenuous exercises until the Doctor gives the go ahead. 9 months later, I am back into my old jeans again.

I had a c-section and worked 2 wks right after. From wk 2 to wk 6 I worked twice a week for a full 8 hours or more and my boss let me bring the boys in with me. I was able to work a little so we still had something extra coming in, the boys were with me so I was, as well as every girl in the hotel, hold and feed them. It is possible to work right after. You just have to pace yourself and do what you can. Your body will tell you what you can and can't do.

You need to wait 3-4 months before you start to work out. Now if you want to take nice easy walks outside that should be fine. You can take the baby out for a walk but that's about as much of a work out you should do until it's been 3-4 months. Your body needs plenty of time to heal. If you push yourself you can seriously hurt your body and it will take even longer for you to heal.

If you have a C-section, it'll be at least 2 months. If not, about 6 weeks for heavy aerobic/cardio/weight exercise. After a couple weeks, you can go for walks. Talk to your doctor, and heed the advice given by him!

I would say wait until at least 6 wks. Your body has gone thru serious trauma. Give it time to heal. Be sure to ask the doc.

That is a question for your DR. Everyone is different with different circumstances. You can probably take your baby in a jogger stroller and walk to start! Ask your DR--- :)
