popularity is a funny thing lots of people seem to want it and will go to great lengths to get it becoming someone else entirely why don't you just try finding out what he really likes and take it from there you might just be surprised how far this will get you other people are probably hanging around just to be seen with the "popular dude " just maybe he would like a real friend

start by just saying hi to him for awhile and sooner or later he will feel more comfortable around you and talk to you.

um, let me get this straight.
you can talk. he has ears, presumably they work.
what's he going to do, cover his ears and run away?
I don't see an issue, except maybe a little courage . . . this is not really hard. calculus is hard.

no matter how popular he is, remember that we're all human. just approach him and tell him whatever you want and then say thanks for his time. it's better than saying 'whaat if' later isn't it..Ã
