i was told to beware of an unfunded loan from prosper.com, please explain why i should beware

I actually posted a question about prosper last week... I am very computer illiterate and cant figure out how to add a link, but if you click on me you will see the question prosper.com and there are some people that left helpful links...

Prosper.com is a legitimate website. It's a website that matches people who want to borrow money, with people who want to lend it.
One risky apsect of this business is no assurance you will even get paid by the borrowers. Some lenders like to think of it as investing, but I think it falls under the term gambling. The lender is giving money to a complete stranger with no assurance of ever getting paid. But ofcourse risks are present in any type of business. If you plan on lending, you may want to do your due-dilligence before sending anyone your money.
