Dunno dude its just one of those mysteries? maybe there jus to lazy to put it down themselves. not to sound sexist but we take the effort in lifting the damn thing so we dont piss on it, so whats the problem in putting it down if it hasnt got piss over it. You could on the other hand have a urinal fitted. Problem solved.

Shouldn't you be flattered that God gave you 2 hands with which to raise and lower the seat so that if you did get it wet, you wouldn't have to sanitize it each time when you were done?
By the way, if you have to "hope for the best when you take aim, you may want to see a urologist or get glasses. Kids that cannot aim or older men that can't predict what will happen, also pee sitting down.
Women get upset, because if they need to run to the bathroom in the middle of the night or whenever, if the seat is up, they're gonna fall in the bowl. Besides, wince most women are the ones in the house that actually scrub the toilet and change the paper, is it too much to ask that the men are considerate to return the seat back?

Try "civilized" and frankly, I think there are more important things about which to ask than this question that has been asked and answered dozens of times on this forum. It's a safety concern as well as an aesthetic one, as small children can actually fall in if they use the bathroom at night and don't realize their father has been too lazy to put the seat down; cats and small dogs have been known to fall in as well. Now, is it possible that you and the others who seem obsessed with this issue can put a lid on it, so to speak!

Because when your heading into the bathroom at 2:00 am and your half asleep and it is obviously dark at that time of night and you go to sit down on the toilet and fall in and get a wet azz it is not very pleasant!

simply because we are annoyed by those of you who can't take aim. Since guys (im not saying this about all guys, but most) don't clean up their "misses" left on the bathroom seat, it is a pretty general rule of society that the toilet seat be left down. Since girls don't miss, it isnt gross to pick up the seat, but it would be annoying for us to have to put it down with ur pee spills splashing all over. Also, since both guys AND girls poop with the seat down, it is more likely that the next person going to the bathroom needs the seat down..... so it makes more sence to keep it down to please the largest majority of people. hope this answers your question!

It's a dark Stormy night and the lights are out. Your asleep and thunder wakes you up. Suddenly you realize you gotta go bad and can't wait to find a flash light or candle so you blindly make your way to the potty. You find it and sit down only to find you've fallen in....... The lid was up and your husband (boyfriend, brother, father, son take your pick) forgot to flush and put the set down. (how rude). For reasons like that I would say.

One question...you answer. Have you ever sat down when the seat was up? Man, that 1/2" to 3/4" gap feels like you feel off the earth! Funny, huh? I guess women don't look before they sit. Obviously, us guys must not either! Ha HA!!!! Good luck with your question.

You need to put down the lid as well as the seat before flushing - otherwise the spray goes everywhere, including on the toothbrushes etc. in the bathroom. Think about it before you brush - stale urine droplets, even your own, can't be very appealing.

I guess Im use to it, I grew up with two brothers and dont complain about it. I just put it down. But I could see how some could make it a big deal. If your living with a girl just be considerate, Im sure she doesn't leave her tampons out..

My theory is that if the loo seat is usually up then women know that no-one has pee'd on it but if it's down then they may have.
My wife's rationale is that she doesn't want to sit on cold porcelain when she stumbles to the loo in the middle of the night.
It's one of those compromise areas that happen in relationships.
