I agree with the above that it would be the cheetah, the road runner would be too heavy to move as quickly if it were huge like a cheetah.

If you shrunk the cheetah though, then I think the road runner would win.

The cheetah would be faster in a sprint, but the roadrunner would win a longer race. Cheetahs have special physical adaptations that give them a speed advantage for a short time. When they run, they maximize the leverage of the legs by getting thier vital organs "out of the way", compressing their diaphragm up into their chest cavity, thus shutting down their breathing. Hence, they can only run fast until they need to take another breath. Roadrunners, on the other hand, have a very effective traveling gait, but really aren't very fast.

Cheetah, the Desert Roadrunner would not be proportionate for the speed.

Cheatah, because it has four legs. But only slightly faster.

Also, note that almost any flying creature can go faster.
