Check with your state's Department of Labor (sometimes its called something slightly different, like workforce commission, etc.). I would presume it is required, but this isn't the first time I've seen this question so clearly not all employers do it, so best to ask the state and know for sure.
Often you need a paystub for income verification, like to rent an apartment or get a car loan. Also I'd sure want to know what is being deducted. It's not that expensive for the employer to use a payroll service and they ALL detail out that info on a stub.

The employer is not required to give you a stub with the paycheck, but you do have right to know your tax or salary info. And just because it's printed on a stub doesn't mean they're actually reporting it to the IRS. It's your responsibility to keep up with your tax submissions.

As a former employer, I always gave my employees a statement with every pay, showing all deductions. It was easy, because it was generated from my bookkeeping software, the same software that I used to track the deductions that I had to remit to the Government(s). If your employer is keeping track of the deductions then it shouldn't be a big deal to give you a statement (stub) with every pay. If they make it sound like it's a big deal, then yeah, it's fishy.

Yes.
Ask for one with all your future checks and get stubs for all previous checks. They could be cheating you a couple of hours. Plus, you need to compare your taxes with what they take out and what they report.

A pay stub with gross pay, all deductions and net pay. He may not be paying your income tax, fica,medicare or state tax, if your state is a tax state. Might risk your job,but you best check, you will be libel for those taxes if he isn't paying them..Good luck..

I sense that if deductions are made from your gross pay, that some form of accounting them is in order. This may be an issue for which a state law applies. I reccommend that you ask this question of someone at your state bureau of labor.

I would think so...you want to keep track and make sure that they're paying you fairly for what you're working. I've always gotten a pay stub at my jobs.

yes,by Federal law,,your employer is suppose to have a check STUB with your hours,,amount paid per hour and with holding,,call the labor board,,file a compliant
