why do most westerners work for a year only to spend their earnings for a summer vacation in other countries?

Its a real hassle to get a job in another country due to immigration laws.

The average working American spends a significant percentage on their income on rent or a mortgage, then you have power bills, wtaer, gas, student loans, children to feed, maybe a car payment, along with credit card bills. Most Americans are up to their eyeballs in debt.
An American working full time will get a week, maybe two in PAID vacation. Knock out people working part time jobs and who're not going to be able to pay bills if they have a break in their income, and can't afford to take non-paid vacations.

Compare this to Europe or anywhere else with five weeks paid, and you'll see Americans are slaves to their own social expectations.

Why don't they settle for less stuff and get more time off?

Lack of perspective and fear. The older ones are scared to death they won't be able to afford to retire.

I don't see why not. I frequently go abroad instead of within the US because I like the interactions of different cultures and experiences by going abroad than staying in the US.

It also helps that country's economy :), the US already gets enough of my money through taxes!

why slave your life away at work and then when you've built up a lot of money, just sit in the same place you've always been. That seems incredibly boring. I know I like to enjoy life and that means traveling and experiencing cultures outside of your own and having a good time doing it.

it's the old saying: all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.

not only that, but this day and age of spontaneous terrorism has taught the world that it is important to take time to enjoy life, as it could end for no good reason on any given day. work work work needs to be balanced with play play play, and to take advantage of your own efforts to enjoy yourself and rejuvenate seems like a good thing to me.

Haha, i understand some human beings may imagine i'm loopy. with slightly of success through June I have my drivers license which will be good for both my mom and that i because i am going to get out of the living house extra frequently like she and that i both desire us to with out her using me round. yet when I have my license, i'm getting myself a job. i'd are growing one formerly had I were given my license formerly, yet some issues arose and my mom would not ideas me getting me a job, she's extremely joyful actual yet she stated the in ordinary words way is that if I have my license because she refuses to force me to and fro. i favor to artwork at this extremely tremendous mall and this is in ordinary words fifteen minutes away, the subsequent 2 or 3 cities over. i am going to't wait to artwork. some would hate it, yet i love to artwork. operating in clothing shops and such are my element. I also plan to sleep over my friends living house or perhaps as i'm using i wish to force us round extra to the mall and to the coastline. To our different friends for sleepovers and bonfires. and that i'll't watch for all the stay shows and song gala's my friends and that i'll flow to. i'm addicted to going to stay shows, they're a lot exciting and that i love the ability. Oh and in view that March i have been engaged on a existence-type/health plan (I received't call it a weight-relief plan because diets artwork in ordinary words little while period). My mom is quitting smoking alongside with us getting extra healthful and dropping weight. My September i wish to have reached my objective weight. Then Band Camp is this summer season and that i'm so excited for it. this is likely to be the great and my saddest one ever because my friends and that i have multiple friends that are going to be seniors and this is going to be their very last band camp, very last marching season ever. My friends and that i plan to flow all out.
