to build things (archetechure), to fly things (constructing and operating planes and space ships), to travel over water (constructing and operating boats and sailboats), navigation, for healthcare (medicine doses, measuring vital signs, correctly performing surgical procedures), and inventing things (microwaves, toasters, cars, alarm clocks, trains, watches, light bulbs... you name it!). for our economy (money and wall street and world trade). for cooking (2 tablespoons of salt for one batch, 4 tablespoons for two batches...).
and that's not all, but i'm tired of writing.

When you make change for a purchase, when you figure out how many days till school vacation, when you count the money in your pocket and figure out how much you already spent, when you figure out how much paint you need to do a room, when you figure out what part of a cake you will have after sharing with two friends, and when you figure out how much more you have to earn to go to the movies. In other words almost every decision that involves numbers in your life.

the true question is how do we not use math. we use it to average the distance between us and objects, to tell how far or high to throw a ball , when to hit the baseball, to know how much change you're supposed to get, etc.
