this will work for windows Xp operating systems, and possible 98/ME.
Right click on the "start menu" button (bottom right) select properties, then the customise tab, then the advanced tab. And there should be a button "clear list" this will remove the recent documents list.
untick "list my most recently opened documents" if you want to remove the option of displaying the list of recent documents.

You can delete them all at once. Here's how.
Right click the start button. Click Properties. Go to the "Start Menu" tab in the popup window and click the "customize" button. Another popup appears with the heading "Customize Start Menu". Click the Advanced tab on this menu. Near the bottom of the Advanced tab there is a button which says "Clear list". Click that and then OK all the way back out.
Voila!

Hold the control key down - select the ones you want to delete
Let go of the control key
Click Delete
Or open the My Documents Folder
Click Select All
Click Delete

Normally you would not want to delete everything in my documents but if you do want to, go to START then MY DOCUMENTS Ckick EDIT then SELECT ALL then Delete, you will loose all files in my documents.
