The best way to tell, is to track your mileage and gallons used over 30 days, this will sample all of the driving conditions you encounter and give you the best mpg.

Fill up your car. Write down the number of gallons. Reset your trip odometer. When you fill up next time, take the miles and divide them by the gallons used and that will tell you the gas mileage.

Fill your tank. Record the mileage. Drive around. Fill the tank again and record the number of gallons it took to refill the tank. Record the second mileage. Subtract the first mileage reading from the second mileage reading. That will tell you how many miles you have driven. Divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons consumed. That will give you your "miles per gallon".

Reset your trip odometer after you fill up and drive the car until your close to empty. Note how many gallons it takes to refill your tank and do the calculation between the mileage and gallons. Should tell you the closest approx mileage!

The next time you fill your tank full, either note down your odometer milage or reset the trip odometer. On your next fill up note how many miles you traveled and divide that number by the number of gallons you put in your tank. That should give you the miles per gallon. The key is making sure you fill the tank full.

the best way i know of is to go fill your car up,,i mean all the way to the neck of it,,to the point that it wont hold another drop,,write down the mileage on the car,,also write down the exact amount of gas,,i mean to the tenth,,now go out and drive it exactly 50 miles,,come right back to the same station,,fill it back up to the neck again,,same thing here,,till it wont hold another drop,,now take the amount it took to fill it up,,and compare it to the original ,,amount you put in it,,and also subtract the amount of miles you drove,,the number you,ll come up with ,,will be the exact amount to the tenth of a gallon,,you are getting in gas mileage,,,you will also be able to determine how much is cos-ted you to drive the 50 miles,,right down to the penny,,i own a repair shop,,and i have done this for a lot of my customers who wanted to know for sure,,i hope this help,s,,it does work,,and its better than waiting a week or two,,good luck with it.

Reset your trip odometer everytime you fill up.
When you are at the pump take the miliage off of the trip odometer and divide it by the number of gallons that you put into the tank.

you can check the odometer when you fill up and divide the miles per tank, but you need to know how many gallons the tank holds
