Follow the Ground side battery cable it's either connected to the block or a bracket. Take it off there and clean it. Should solve your problem.

The holy trinity of car power
Alternator - Battery - Starter.
If one has gone it usually means it's taking the other two with them.
Pray it's the battery. Alternators are a pain to replace, sometimes.

Sounds like a dead battery
Unless you have a major short in your electrical system, and it comes on line when you turn the ignition switch. (Your starter?)
Check the resistance of the starter! I am assuming the starter solenoid is OK since you just changed it.

your battery should be checked for cranking amps, dont be fooled by the 12 volts, it does not take 12 volts to start an engine, it takes cranking amps
