I do not smoke,because I think I do not need it; and it is not for me to smoke.Kids smoke,because they have not a clue,they have not idea: that they are killing themselves every time they smoke a cigarette(cancer is in his way to the body of them).If they could see their bodies 10,20 years in the future with cancer;I warranty,they will stop to smoke right now.Good question.

Take a look around you. The tv, movies , magszines. All the kids see is stars from Hollywood are smoking. Their idols smoke. That is why they thinksmoking is cool. Never mind how many movie stars die of lung cancer

Because their peers think it is and alot of kids think following what everyone does is cool. You shouldn't start at all. It gives you cancer and you lose more friends then you gain.

Why does everyone assume that when high school kids smoke its because they think its cool. Have you ever thought they they actually like it?

PEER PRESSURE. Or just something to do on a whim...an experiment, maybe a dare. Overall, smoking is so bad, I wish I never pick up on this bad habit.....

Because they want recognition good or bad they just think that smoking will make them cool. ps i hope you quit smoking.

I would say it is maybe a desire to grow up quicker than it is a desire to be cool. Every kid wants to grow up until it actually happens...then you just wish life, and your lungs had a rewind button.
