same line plumber call it 3/8 " outside dia and Hvac measures inside dimension 5/16

If you don't know , you shouldn't be doing the install.

it is a problem if the unit calls for the 3/8. The expansion process can actually begin in the liquid line if it is too small.

should work but u can reduce it.....3/8 is a very small line set! 1/2 is the smallest i have ever seen and most all of ours r 3/4.....u can check the chart with a hvac company, distance to line set diameter ratio......
