Why do police officers wear tight clothes and dressy shoes? wouldn't that make them slower when chasing someone?

not here in Canada....they look sharp and totally functional.

They have both dressy, class A uniforms and more casual, Class B uniforms. Dressy uniforms are a thing of the past for many departments. Now officers are going more for comfort and function if their Chief adopts it. They wear black or navy B.D.U. s and polo shirts. Military type boots are more common now than glossy dress shoes for everyday police work. I dont know where you live but around me this seems to be the trend. They still have to attain the uniform appearance but comfort should be a factor for all the situations the officer deals with throughout the day.
Now if you have ever watched "Reno 911" on comedy channel, Lt Dangle is a whole different category with his short shorts and tight uniform.

The only time I've seen officers dressed up in dress shoes is at some type of official function.

No no , on the contrary , first they work out , everyday they stay for an hour or so in the gym ,the tight close help them to run faster than you think !
Tight closes makes you feel ?? light i guess .. funny isn't it !!

hecks yeah i would think so that what i was wondering to and why do they have fat cops too that eat all those donuts i think they should have diets and maybe they would catch more people and i would feel a lot safer SO COPS PLEASE LAY OFF THE DONUTS FOR A SAFER WORLD.
