I am very efficient about serving the clients that I have and do not have trouble maintaining the relationship once it is established, however I have a lot of difficulty in obtaining new clients, does anyone have any sales or marketing advice that could help with this problem?

You need to be involved in the community. Fortunately there are lots of ways to do this. You can do several.

If you have kids, you can get involved with their school. That's a great way to get to know other parents. If you don't have kids, you can coach a team in soccer or basketball. If you treat the kids good, the parents will be impressed with you. You can join a civic organization like the Jaycees. Where I live, the chapter has 500+ members - all between 22 and 40. How is that for a demographic. Are you a member of a church. If so, are you in a small group or sunday school class. Also, great ways to get to know people.

Bottom line, if you are sincere, people can tell. Then it is just a matter of putting yourself in front of enough new people.

Yes I can help.

From your experience you know the age group when people are open to your services.
1) Your existing clients have friends and family in the same age group a recommendation from them is golden.

This ave. is the best as it has a built in inroad.
The holidays is a good time to begin. You narrow down some
average chance, good chance & best chance clients.
To the average send a "Very Nice" card,to the good, a card and chocolate,to the best a card and bottle of wine.
In each some "Very" well chosen words and mention you are there to provide advise anytime to them, their family,or close friends.

2) Order a precise computer mailing list, one that is tailored
to exactly what you need.
Cold mailings can generate "some" clients but the return is
not like ten years ago.
People do not like sales e-mail so that is out.
Aranging with a fair sized company to give a talk about financial
planning to a fair sized group can be a winfall as they tell other
family members and friends about what they learned.

Good Luck!

Here are 5 simple ways to do just that:

1. Send everyone in your zip code a postcard announcing a sale at your place of business. AND have them bring in the postcard to receive the discounted price.

2. Distribute a press release detailing the latest breakthrough in your business field, available only at your place of business. AND include a special telephone number for customers to call for more information.

3. Give a speech at the Chamber of Commerce. AND hand out problem solving brochures with your address, phone number and a special code number for customers to use to get a discount.

4. Take out a yellow pages ad. AND include a discount offer in the ad.

5. Become the local expert in your business field by being interviewed on the radio. AND include a special phone number for customers to call during the broadcast to get more information.

Give a stack of your business cards to all the banks in your area and then join LeTip and the Chamber of Commerce

Yes. Make the first visit a free consultation. That will at least get them in your door. The rest is up to you...good luck.
