i mean this for people that know they are terminally ill, not for people got a problem that might go into remission/get fixed/stablised, my medical condition is curently stable but i think ill take a lethal injection when it stops bieng stable unless i meet death by accident first - i don't plan on euthanasia soon my health was stable last time it was checked so i don't ned to worry short term

MissElection isnt it selfish that you want someone you allgedly love to die in pain instead of slip away into a final drug induced sleep - i did specify this question was for people in imminent death situations not healthy people, i don't advocate knocking years off life just days of pain

okay, unless you're in the situation this guy is in, you have no right to judge, only the person who's dying can know if they are in too much pain to handle mentally and emotionally and only the person who's dying can take the decision to end it when the time is right for them.

mini prophet of fubar, if I were in your situation, I would tell my family my plans, spend a great last few days with them and then do it, I wouldn't want to be in great pain before I die. I'm not afraid of death, I truely believe it is the best natural order for the world, but I don't want to be in pain.

I have seen suffering at the end of life, and it does seam more humane to end that suffering. I have also seen these same suffering people struggle for the very last breath. Who is to say when it is time? Me? You?
Life is something every living creature from the smallest bug, to the largest animal want to protect. I am not sure any human has the right to take it away.

Life is a gift given by God.We cannot prolong it by wish or end it by our wish.If you have someone who loves you unconditionally, you should know that maybe they are not expressing their love for you but you mean a lot to them,in whatever state you may be.i wont say that your ill health will not pain them but losing you will pain them much more. For those who think that you are ending your pain by doing this remember that you may be inflicting never ending pain on someone who loves you.Losing a battle with sickness is another thing but quitting makes your loved ones feel guilty and painful whenever they think of you.Its not about being functional ,your very presence does mean a lot to your loved ones.

Well, that's called suicide. And the thought just creeps me out. On the other hand, it's a time-honored tradition in some cultures, though it happens to be illegal in ours (for reasons other than moral ones, actually).

I take it you don't want to just live out your last days as best you can? You must forsee a truly terrible future..... And that level of desperation/depression is not something that can be addressed here. So I offer no opinion. Sorry.

I totally believe in it, from being in the medical field for almost 20 yrs, I have seen people suffer and pray to die. If I am ever in this situation I would want to be euthanized. I always say we are more humane to our animals then we are to people, if our animals are beyond help we euthanize them.

Yes. To me, no sin or guilt attaches to a person taking control of his or her final solution.

it's the same thing as abortion. it's a personal choice, if you are so far beyond a cure or in so much pain why prolong it?

Personally.. I feel if a person wants to do it.. they must have a reason and I do not see why they cannot do it.
