It shouldn't be very long. Go when you know how you're going to react to them. You're right to put off major decisions until you're certain how you're going to react, but it should take no more than a week or two. If you got the right thing, you're going to feel better and a bit more focused.

You can apply for a job at anytime. However, you need to think about your limits and your needs. I don't know how depressed or anxious you are, so you should decide that with your doctor and your therapist. Hopefully you are seeing both. Good luck. It often takes up to two months to see a difference and get the medicine built up in your system. If after that time, the medicine is not working too well for you, do not be afraid to try another kind. Believe me, they are all different.

Most take 2-4 weeks to really work well. If you can't function/interview/write a resume until they kick in, then don't apply for about a month.

If you're worried about side effects from starting it - then ask your doctor. It depends on the type.

About 3 weeks is as long as it takes for most antidepressants to work properly, perhaps another week after that to get used to it, but 3-4 weeks sounds good.

Note: Please consult your Doctor and/or the manufacturer before making such a decision. :)
