Security + makes a transmitter that is battery powered and operates just like the remote that you put in your car except it has a keypad that is programmable. Mine is mounted to the outside of the garage and has a four digit code that you enter and then push a button to send a signal to your garage door opener.
I like this type because I don't have to run wires outside that can be tampered with and allow someone to open the garage door without the code. The keypad also comes with a weathercap to keep water out of the keypad. The device programs just like your hand device that you use inside your car, and takes less than 10 minutes to install. Lowes, or Home Depot will be sure to have them. The only thing you need to be sure of is to make certain that the signal frequency is compatible with your garage door opener. If by chance you have a Sears opener, then you will probably have to go to sears to get one.
Here is a link to a generic brand

Sears has one. Completely remote. It basically simulate the remote garage door opener, except you have a keypad instead of the big button. Battery operated.
They also have a wired kind.

I believe that brand is sold at either Lowe's or Home Depot. They sell a remote keypad that is wireless. So just attach it to the door frame, put in the battery and away you go.

I know that my in-laws had one installed, to a previous garage door with a remote. I don't know how much they cost, but Lowe's or Home Depot has that kind of stuff. They may be easy to install, and if not, you can call a local handyman and I'm sure they'll do it for you.

You can pick one up at a garage door store. make sure the wires are connected correctly and that you have the same code on both the receiver and and the keyboard.
