I heard that scientists are coming up with ways to stop hurricanes and tornadoes. One possibility is to drop an atomic bomb into the storm. The atomic bomb will interrupt the storm, but they fear that the outcome will worsen.
What do you think will happen if an atomic bomb is used?

Well first, did you know that tornadoes, hurricanes, and even thunderstorms, let off and release MORE energy than nuclear bombs? About a HUNDRED or more times more energy--maybe thousands, I don't remember. It's a big number.

I think, you might as well try to beat a heavy wind with karate. Whatever effect the Nuke might have would be temporary, and the underlying energy of the Earth would be released a little later on, probably worse.

Look at this map of a portion of the area of the April 3-4, 1974 "Super Outbreak".

Do you really think a "scientist" would recommend dropping atomic bombs on all of these storms? And boy we'd sure need lots of aircraft and bombs!

Sure. No one can stop hurricanes and tornadoes. Well, maybe Superman. If an atomic bomb was used, there would be no need to evacuate people. That is an ingenious idea you have there, Einstein( Einstein, no put down intended, I see you on this web site).

I think it is impossible. There are radiation and radioactive substance created.

I am against the fission bombs as it take radioactive material. For fusion bomb, or hydrogen bomb, that may be better, but still radiation.

But definitely not for tornado cause tornado happend over land. It is same as blowing up a bomb over land and someone else home. That is a no, no.

Yeah, nuclear weapons do disrupt the air quite a bit. Maybe even enough to stop a hurricane. But uhh, there's this little thing called nuclear fall out. Kinda worse than a hurricane.

well...obviously the atomic bomb dropping on a tornado would be outrageously stupid. The radiation's effect would be devastating killing more that a tornado would. Are you sure "scientists" thought of this?!?

Atomic bombs on hurricanes... hmm making a big problem even worse.

Bad idea. It might stop the tornado, but would probably cause damage on the ground, and would certainly release a fair amount of radiation.

The tornado would be a Category 10.

confucious said "dont use a cannon to kill a mesquito"......which means that using an atomic bomb will not only cause harmful radiation that will effect our atmosphere and oceans, but it will also cause unrest in other countries that will be suspicious of any atomic detonation. it is one of the worst ideas i have heard of in a long time
