sure, it's bad for you. Diesel smoke is actually more carcinogenic than tobacco smoke, but it's not the scape goat because the world would stand still without trucks, trains, bulldozers, buses, jet aircraft, and dozens of other important things, not to mention the oil industry wouldn't hear of it.

Do you think you're going to live forever? You're gonna die of something no matter what you do, so might as well eat like a pig, drink like a sot, smoke, and get some enjoyment while you're here. Besides, if you live too long you'll wind up slobbering on yourself, pissing your pants, and crapping yourself, bored shetless in some nursing home. Now that's an incentive for being a health freak.

Ive asked the same question to myself for 8 yrs now. I dont know why I ever started and pray to God I can find a way to stop someday. We as smokers are not totally to blame. There are very addictive chemicals that the companies purposly put in smokes. Speaking from personal experience, I was able to quit using meth after 2 yrs of heavy use myself with no help or treatment, but can put down the damn cigarrettes. Good Question!!!!

I'm a smoker...I started at age 9 because I adored my older brother...I began inhaling because I saw my adored cousin exhale the most beautiful stream of blue smoke I'd ever seen and
wanted to do the same...I love the smell of ashtrays, dry and wet!
I love the taste of cigarettes and have one if I can also be eating something while I'm smoking..I like to take a drag after the bite because it tastes so great!! I have quit smoking before and was told that I looked horrible, food tasted really bland so I lost weight and all of that was over a fairly long period of time and those around me said I was no fun anymore, that I seemed to be only half alive...I went back to smoking, food is great again, I look better and I'm told I'm the life of the party again and I feel great...What would you do in my place?

Because we like to. Because we know the risks and don't care. No offense to anyone, but this anti-smoking kick sucks! If you asked me not to smoke in your house or in your car, or while you are eating, I would gladly not do it. If we can respect your rights for not smoking, why can;t you respect ours because we do? In our town there is a new smoking ban going into effect Oct. 1. No smoking allowed anywhere, even at bars. That's pretty good. You can go out, get drunk, drive home and run the risk of killing someone, but you can't smoke.

I started smoking because every day before school my friends and I would steal about 5 packs of cigarettes and we had nothing to do with them but smoke em and they were the only things in the shop we could get our hands on.. and then later on because of addiction although I know I can quit if I really want, it doesn't phase me really

They're addicted but interestingly I read that the urge lasts for approx 3 mins so if you can occupy yourself for 3 mins especially by drinking water which actually flushes the nicotine out of your body,it helps to kick the habit.Apparantly following a regimew like this you can be free within 3 days as all the nicotine will have been flushed out of the body...

smoking is addictive, it`s hard to use common sense when you body is telling you that you NEED that in you system. i`ve known people who have quit for 20yrs. and still have cravings for a smoke. the only way most people would stop is if it were made illegal, but even then if you want something bad enough you`ll find it

My best friend smokes to relieve stress. I dont know how that helps him but i guess something in tobacco calms the nerves. It's like your problems vanish in the air like the smoke even if its just for few moments.

i agree with the other people who ansered the questions like this, but:
1. because they don't care when they start whether or not it's bad for them
2. because it makes some kind of statement that "you are cool" or "you are a rebel"
3. because they're already into other addicitng habits, so they don't see the harm in having yet another one
4. because deep down, they secretly want cancer so they can add it to their list of things to whine about when they get older.
