No. Replace it.
This is more of an economical answer than a if it can be done answer.
yes it can be done but far more expensive than to just replace it.
It is not just the gas - the seal, rod, whole asembly may be old. The only reason why you need to "recharge" a strut is that the seals broke.

No the struts are replaced when they grow weak or leak oil. Monroe makes the shocks for that car. Opel, Holden, Pontiac GTO in America. I replace mine with GM performance struts go online and see if the V P Commodore is listed if not check with KONI of Holland see what they have.

McPherson struts are very common on cars these days. They have a spring, surrounding a cartridge, or 'insert' of either oil or gas. Yes, when these are worn out, they can be changed by your local garage, or you, but with special tools such as spring compressors. I love my fingers and thumbs too much to risk them, I'd rather pay my mechanic.
