Why is it that in the X-men movies the charactors are not played exactly as in the comic book? Why doesn't Rogue fly? Where's Gambit? This frustrates me! And I know there will be an X-Men 4.

Hollywood has to mess up everything, that's why. They are greedy and want money. That's all that matters, not staying true to a story.
Gambit was not put in the movie because he was not "marketable" enough. He is too close to Wolverine attitude wise, and looks to much like Cyclops, that's their reasoning, not mine. I guess there is only enough room for one anti-hero in the movie. I think it would be difficult to place him too. He would not make a good younger character, and if made an adult character it would make problems with the Rogue character.
BTW, the 3rd one WAS the last X-men movie, but they are working on a Wolverine movie

Characters from literature and comic books are frequently changed when a movie is made of them. This can be for a variety of reasons including budget, plot points, and pacing. While this may seem irreverent to you, it is a necessary
"evil" when making movies. Try to cut them a little slack though. Writing a screenplay for a movie and then producing a good movie is a lot harder then most people would think.

Flying is a difficult special effect. Gambit was probably not popular enough/ not visual enough to put on the screen. It sure would be nice if there was an X4. But I'm not going to drop if there isn't.

Because it they were played exactly the same then it wouldnt be the movie it would be the comic book!
