ok, i'm 16, i passed my driver's test, bought my sister's car, and my parents wont let me drive it. I said i'd pay for insurance, gas, and repairs, and they still wont let me drive because "its not time" and "having a car is too expensive". the thing is, i have a job, and school. Having a car is not for kicks, i NEED it, and i hate depending on people for rides.
Parents, what did your children say to convince you for a ride
Kids, have any advice of what would get them?

nagging is a powerful weopon my friend, nag, whine and cry until you turn blue (or until your parents say yes)Or you can ask when they got their first car if they got it early, consider them a hipocrite and not talk to them until they let u use the car.

this all depends on your specifics they may have a very good point. expenses for example at 16 you cant even imagine what kinds of problems you might run into, if its an old ford truck they are way off base but gas aint cheap, if its a nice little efficient import every part is overpriced, say you go outside in the morning and it don't start you could be literally hundreds of dollars into it just to find out whats wrong. also what kind of job do you have? coffee girls, cashiers, burger flippers, or any type of job like that you can be replaced in a day then not have the money for gas or repairs, maybe at 16 you have not been juggling job and school yet and your parents arent sure you will stick with it then they will be buying gas and parts.

they best advice i can give from personal experience is, to go on without a car, showing them you don't NEED a car because you have the drive and determination to accomplish things without that advantage. then your parents giving you that privilege may give you the opportunity to accomplish more

You passed your driving test at 16? what country are you from?
I didn't think it was legal to get behind the wheel of a car until you were at least 17......... or is that just in England?

If you are working and are able to afford the upkeep of the car then I see no harm in you having one. You say you have passed your test so a qualified instructor obviously thinks your time is right.
Try to reach a compromise with your parents. maybe just use it for driving to and from school for a while and then once your parents are satisfied that you are a sensible and capable driver increase your hours.

Just try to remain calm and mature with your parents. Tell them how you feel and then listen to how they really feel.
It is hard but they do have your best interests at heart, so level with them a little and I am sure they will respect you more for it!

Good luck

Both of my kids were driving their own cars at your age. I had no problem with that because they did the one thing that put my mind to ease... they showed me they were responsible enough to drive.

Driving is the single, most dangerous thing you can let your children do. They are at the most risk of death behind the wheel of any car especially with all the drunk drivers out there. Most assuredly, you will get into an accident, whether it is your fault or not is immaterial... they will all be your fault as most accidents, whether your fault or not, can be prevented by driving defensively. Most kids your age simply do not drive defensively and are easily destracted by all sorts of things.

My kids showed me they had no desire to race around, helped me work on their cars and mine, and showed respect towards driving, i.e. reminded me to signal, put on my seat belt, turn my lights on at dusk etc. They proved to me they could change a tire, buy gas, check the oil and tire pressure etc. They didn't make me feel that they would be joy riding with their friends or letting their friends drive their cars.

To summarize, not only did they need a car, they proved they were responsible enough to drive a car safely. I let them drive me around and we did obstacle course type exercises long before they were actually of age to drive by themselves.

Insurance is expensive for your age group. You might find yourself working only to pay for your car insurance and with gas prices so high... your fuel.

Good luck!

distinctive human beings assume veg*n diets are costly. that's absurd, and entirely no longer authentic. i think of human beings think of of a veg*n weight loss software as all tofu, meat replacements, and fancy well-being save possibilities. yet for the common veg*n, those issues are not the regularly occurring public. mom and dad additionally would desire to declare they do no longer seem to be prepared to prepare dinner particular nutrition. yet while the youngster is prepared to make his or her very own nutrition, that's in many cases prevented. a good extra advantageous answer would be a compromise. mom and dad promise to make some non-meat nutrition each and every week, baby promises to no longer whinge if the mummy and dad choose meat. Or there would desire to be an determination lined interior the meal. while i became right into a teen and my mom and dad cooked, the main valuable dish became into in many cases meat, yet there have been continuously sufficient non-meat aspects to fill me up. greens, rice, pasta, salad, heck, even french fries! the terrific element a baby can do is get each and all the data: why a vegetarian weight loss software is extra healthy, hassle-free nutrition they could make, the way it helps the ecosystem (definite, veg*n diets do extra desirable than shop animals!), and so on. in the event that they seem knowledgeable, maybe mom and dad will take them extra heavily.

It depends what grades you have. If you're responsible enough to properly do school work, I would say you're responsible enough to drive a car.
