I have the y intercept, I just need the x intercept. I have a point, it is (5, 10) and a slope, it is 1/9. I need to find x with the equation already given... how do I do that?

Its a line. So make 2 columns, one labeled X and the other Y. Then write -1, 0, 1, and 2 for X and then solve for Y and draw the line.

the equation of a straight line is : Y=mx+c
where x and y are coordinates, m is the gradient and c is the constant.

At y intercept x=0, therefore the equation reads
y= 1/9(0) + 9 4/9
=> y= 9 4/9
=> y= 85/9

At x intercept y=0, therefore we solve for x
0= 1/9X + 9 4/9
=> -X/9 = 85/9
=> -X = 85
=> X= -85

therefore at both intercepts the cordinates are (-85, 85/9)

First discover the slope of x+3y-6=0 3y = -x +6 y (-a million/3)x + 2 So the slope is -a million/3. The slope of a perpendicular line is the unfavorable reciprocal that's 3. to discover a tangent line with slope 3, we detect the derivative. f(x) = 3x^3 - x f'(x) = 9x^2 - a million Set it equivalent to 3. 9x^2 - a million = 3 9x^2 = 4 x^2 = 4/9 x = 2/3 or -2/3 to discover the y cost, we plug x into the unique equation. y = 3(2/3)^3 - (2/3) = 3(8/27) - (2/3) = (8/9) - (2/3) = 2/9 The equation of the line contained in direction of the element (2/3, 2/9) with slope 3 is y = 3x + b (2/9) = 3(2/3) + b 2/9 = 2 + b b = 2/9 - 2 = -sixteen/9 the respond is y = 3x - sixteen/9

X intercepts happen when Y=0, and Y intercepts happen when X=0.
When X=0, Y=9 4/9
When Y=0, X=9(-9 4/9) = -85

Dude, simple:

You want the X intercept right?
So just find the value of X when Y = 0

Plug y=0 into the equation!

0 = 1/9X + 85/9

Rearrange for X =
And you got it.

Simple,

y=mx+c

For info m=gradient, and c = y intercept.

In a graph, the x intercept is ALWAYS when y=0.
Therefore subsituting into the eqiation
y=1/9x + 9 4/9
1/9x = - 9 4/9
x= -9 4/9 * 9
x = -85

Cheers.

I believe you just set the value of y to 0 to find the y intercept and solve for x and vice-versa for x.

x= -85
y= -9 4/9

You put in 0 for x and you'll get the y-intercept. When you put 0 for Y, you'll get the x-intercept.

I have a well tried answer to that eqausion, you take two large empty bottles ,put them three feet apart , making sure that floor is clean and even, steadily climb up onto the bottlesplanting each foot firmly on each bottle, sing waltzing matilda , then realise what a pratt of a question youve asked. fall over. your legs are Y 1/9 of U HIT THE FLOOR PLUS YOUR HEAD HURTSAND IT'LL take 4 of the 9months that your gonna suffer.

Solve for x and y. You already have the y intercept. Get x on one side by itself.
