What all do doctors tests for when they do blood tests? I had tests done yesterday and they called me back with the first set of results yesterday. However they didn't call me today and the results were suppose to come and now the office is closed. Is that a bad thing? I'm really worried......If something were wrong would they delay giving me my results......? Experiences would be nice

I have been having regular blood tests for for years. Standard practice is that they only call you if there is a reason - think of how many people have standard blood tests done everyday as part of a regular check up and nothing is wrong - if they had to call all those people the cost of health care would jump. If there is anything wrong or if you are pregnant they will call you.

From reading your other questions I think you need to take a deep breath and calm down. To treat your swollen feet whenever you can elevate your feet and legs. Check out the other links I've attached for more ideas. If you are pregnant you will soon know. Try to stop focusing on this issue and as much as possible just get on with your college life. Worrying and agonizing about all of this is not helping you and things will be what they will be.

Wait for the blood test results. They would have checked a number of things given the symptoms you describe. They have already checked your heart - the blood tests will check kidney function, liver function, possibly allergies. In someone of your age with no history of health problems it is highly unlikely that there is anything serious. If you don't hear from the doctor in a day or two just call and ask if the blood work results are back yet.

Best of luck. Take care.

Dont make the mistake I did. I always thought no news was good news. I waited 7 days before I called. When I called they showed on record where I was already called once. Like you were. They didnt give me all the results the first time they called. So after 7 days I finally called and found out I had cancer. Not saying something is wrong with you, but ALWAYS call. They do get busy and sometimes even miss comunication can be the problem too. GOOD LUCK! as far as what they test for, it is what ever your doctor ordered. I couldnt tell you what he did without knowing what you went in for. Could be anything from glucose, thyroid, cholesteral, there are so many things...

They are just slackers and dont consider how the patients feel. I once had a test for MS done... they never called to give me the results. I was freaking out all weekend. Monday morning I called, an emotional wreck. The nurse was like "oh... you are fine. They came back negative." I wanted to reach through the phone and.... well... you get the idea. Don't worry. No news is good news. With that said...you are your own best advocate. Keep calling and nag the hell out of them if you want. It's your right to get your results if they are in.

I am a registered medical technologist, which means I am the person who performs the tests in the laboratory. All labs have a "critical" results call list, which means we MUST notify your physician if your results are terribly abnormal. That being said, many results can be abnormal but not necessarily life-threatening. Most physicians will go over these results with you on your next office visit. They are busy with many patients and cannot call each and every one with results. You may call and request your results although the office staff reading them to you may not understand them, so it's best to speak with a Dr or RN.

I am a medical assistant and we normally do not call patients if lab results are normal. Our rule of thumb and we always tell our patients " No news is good news". A lot of offices have this same policy. Hope this helps.

in the event that they weren't precise labs could be close down by using many inspection businesses. Sorry dude, there are soooo many controls to be certain each and every thing is precise it is not even humorous. So my answer is definite they are ninety 9.9% precise and if it is not precise it somewhat is using fact of uncommon human blunders, no longer the testing kit.
