I've known all my life that my mother didn't like me basically because I was born but I never thought she would go to the extent to telling my 3 young kids that (all 3 under the age of 11). Now, I refuse to let my kids around her. This is a woman that has given birth to 5 children and only has 1 left that will even talk to her. She has no remorse whatsoever on throwing away her own 4 children. She tells me to get over it and to stay out of her life. Now she wants to take me to court for grandparents rights, how well do you think that would go over with the judge? Would it be stupid of me to let my kids around her knowing that there could be a chance that the same thing could happen to them? Your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

My mom has 8 but only 3 will go around her, and one will only talk to her by phone. She knows I won't put up with her crap. So stand your ground. You know how she treats you, do you want your kids to be treated that way too.

I think Ive had a similiar experience with my mother and Ive realised that there are certain things that you just cannot change ....But you should definitely not blame yourself... it's only natural to want to foster a positive relationship with ur mother regardless of the past & u would surely want ur kids to enjoy that positive relationship with with their grandmother, but from what ur saying u tried that and ur mother only retaliated in her usual negative manner .... So the only thing left to do is to make sure that ur kids are not exposed to such an unhealthy emotional environment... If she does take u before the family court I think u need to call on ur other siblings to assist ur case in painting a picture of the emotional distress u endured as children & adults, and after this I don't think a judge would rule against u. REMEMBER NEVER STOP LOVING UR MOTHER BUT DONT BLAME URSELF !!!!

Anyone who tells you to let your kids around this poisinous woman is an a$$hat. There are no such thing as grandparents rights. The supreme court has ruled on it and thrown out every grandparents rights law. Stiffen your spine and tell your venomous mother to hit the road.

You have the chance to NOT be like your mother was to you to your kids. Your mother wont have a leg to stand on in court...let her try. No judge in history will take your kids away from you and give them to her without a legitimate reason (like you doing drugs). I wouldnt let my mother see my kids if she told me she hated me. Why should you. Change your phone number and dont leave a forwarding one and dont answer the door if she shows up.

don't let anything hold your kids back from seeing their grandma, let them get to know her first and if they are comfortable around her than let them keep going around her, but if they don't like her than keep your kids from over there at leat you'll have reasonable answer to why you don't want them over there
