I have thought this for a VERY long time. However, we basically have it now. Even hardened criminals and murderers have SOME honor. We all know what happens to child molestors and child rapists when they hit the general population in prison.

I wish we would get the official penalty as a possibility in the courts, but I doubt we ever see it happen.

I hear of a lot more rapists and child molesters being exonerated after 15 years than I do murderers. I have no problem with giving them life, but you can't take back the death penalty.

I'm for the death penalty in murder cases because it's never the victim accusing someone (they can't, they're dead). Murder cases are based more on physical evidence than victim testimony, which can be wrong. Even if there is incriminating physical evidence, like with Kobe Bryant, still might come down to he said, she said in a rape case.

The line is too blurry. Lock them up and throw away the key, but make sure you can find it later if the accuser recants.

While I FEEL that way, I do not THINK that way. The reason for the death penalty for murder is a philosphical (and religious) one. It is not, as most people think, because it is a deterrant. (Even though it is). The main reason it exists is because the murderer cannot do anything to make ammends to the victim, because the victim is dead. Therefore, it is considered an injustice of cosmic proportions for the murderer to be left alive. Even in prison, the murderer can read books, make friends, breathe air, eat tasty food, etc. The victim is deprived of all these things, therefore it is not right for the murderer to be alive. Child molesters, can--in theory--attempt to be forgiven by their victims, by repenting and making ammends. They have not literally killed anyone. The case can be made that they have killed their victim in a psychological sense, but the justice system should not attempt to go down that road. For murderers, (and no one else) the sentence is "you have your life taken away, because you took someone elses."

Sex crimes should be considered a capital offense.

I'm amazed that after all this time they are not.. In fact a rapist has a very good chance of getting out of prison on good behaviour anymore. Don't believe me?

That is the national site for registered sex offenders. Note, this only shows the registered ones. Who knows how many are not registered. I live way out in the country and there are 6 rapists and child molesters who live close to me. :(

It might stop some of the molesting of children if people
knew they'd face death if caught. We're just too soft. So
many people want to get into prisons that they can't keep
all of them forever, so they release them as they are so
overcrowded. And, of course, they go do what they did before.
A vicious circle. We kill the innocent (abortion) and let the
guilty live. Crazy world, eh?

I disagree, i used to like it yet now i hate it. maximum criminals go through greater in reformatory than they might after being injected..thats a certainty, they get positioned out of their distress while their sufferers and kin are probable nevertheless suffering. Alcatraz is a appropriate factor, that reformatory broke human beings suitable, Al Capone and the Birdman couldnt tolerate it and neither ought to every physique else, it grow to be a success yet no longer financially because of the fact of its region. whether it broke criminals down, prisons must be greater like that at present, Al Capone grow to be the main important Mobster interior the U. S. yet he grow to be broken in like 2-3 years, the bigger the crim at present- the greater lavish his existence is in reformatory. i think of we ought to consistently circulate back to the previous technique, the greater durable the crime..the greater durable the time. No demise penalty. They deserve an entire life of solitude the place all desire gets extinguished, it is greater soul destroying. some issues interior the previous have been surely greater useful, dont have self belief the in any different case too often. The worst criminals ought to get no luxury in any respect, purely a mattress and a bathroom. The governement might fairly kill them cos its greater value-effective and the naive public wont whinge, yet id fairly pay my taxes for a prper punishment and retribution for the sufferers.

Innocent until proven guilty. That is the way it must remain. I cannot even imagine how many innocent people have been put to death. A scarey thought.
