Does this move put them over the top?

No, they still need a few years to become real contenders. Once Josh Smith and Marvin Williams develop, then they will be contenders (so probably in the next 2-3 years)

It would help if the Hawks could sign another star to help Joe Johnson.

I'm afraid not, Lorenzen Wright is a good player, but that's his best. His numbers haven't been great and that has partly to due with Pau Gasol (with him around your time on the court is reduced). Now that he'll be with the Hawks his numbers will rise but he is not a superstar or a star player for that matter. It'll take much more than a good player to make Hawks a contenders even in the east.

Lay off the f uckin bammer weed, man, you obviously have no grasp on what is real NBA talent. Lorenzen Wright is what you call a "body". He's just there to absorb hits and give fouls. If the Memphis Grizzlies weren't even interested in re-signing him for the league minimum, he obviously got some bball issues. All the hawks do is fool around during practice and go to strip clubs during off-time. They have no interest in getting better. If they wanna win, try transfering to the WNBA. They MIGHT be able to compete with fat women, just maybe

Last year, the hawks thought joe johnson would make them a playoff team and look where they're at now. They need a real superstar like shaq in his prime, not another slightly above average role player, to even contend to be a .500 team, much less contend for a title.

I dont think the hawks with be contenders for a loooooong time. They've made some stupid moves throughout the years. Dont get your hopes up with them, odds are they'll be just as bad or a slight bit better this next year.

As most of the other people said." they don't think so," I will have to agree. It will take a few years and some smart dealing to get them back up to par. If you are a fan of theirs, cheer for them anyway, it is the right thing to do and you will have more fun.
