Careful............There is no such department!! Report them asap to the Federal Government. Inheritance funds are usually tax free to any beneficiary if related to the insured or estate owner. Check with your lawyer and insurance agent. I know, I'm an insurance agent myself.

have you really a relative in the uk, or is it one of those email letters that keep telling you about some money left by some unknow relative or a lottery, that what is circulating on the internet , its a scam just report it as spam,it a way of getting your real name and bank account which most probably be used by hackers or another way of fleecing you, please dont fall for these internet gags, you will come out with little or no money in your account,
if for some real reason you do have a relative , in that case consult a lawyr that does cases on inherritance,

If they ask you to pay any cash, which they most likely will then its definately not true.
There is no foreign affairs commision in the UK that I know of and all tax issues over here would be dealt with by HM Revenue & Customs.

You should contact them.

Oh and if you gave out bank details I would contact your bank and have the account number changed.

Scam!
Don't part with your bank details or money, if yo think it is genuine, have it payed to your lawyer, or into a clean, new bank account and forewarn your bank.

Be very careful there are alot of SCAMS out there. I would be leery if you don't know the person. Did they ask you to send money? If so, it is a SCAM.
