3/4 multiply by 4/4 = 12/16 + 9/16 = 21/16 = 16/16 + 5/16 = 1 5/16

you multiply the second fraction by 4 on the top and the bottom which makes it 12/16 then add it to the 9/16 and it should be 21/16 or 1 and 5/16th. hope this helps.

9/16 + 3/4
= 9/16 + 12/16
= 21/16
=1 5/16

You need to first find the common denominator

So what do you have more trouble with, English or math?

3/4 = 12/16.
12/16+9/16 = 21/16, or 1 5/16.
