NEOCONS and WARMONGERING HAWKS virtually want some of us here to apologise for wanting to live in Peace with the rest of the world. Where convincing the other side to your point of view and debate is preferable to killing and destruction. Is this the legacy of the last 6 years.

War should be the ABSOLUTE last resort. Some times it cannot be avoided, that's the way it's always been and probably the way it always will be. Pre-emptive war like the one George Bush got us into in Iraq is not what the United States should be about. We're supposed to be smarter than that.

Be honest, do you really mean that war should be the last resort, or do you really mean no war at any cost? Even when you have war as an "absolute" last resort, truly implies that there is an appropriate and just condition for such an event to take place. Throughout history, there have been war over "personal matters", egos, greed, etc. But that's not the total picture. You say you want to live in Peace. Who doesn't prefer that? That ideal can only happen if both parties desire that above all else. If you have one party who will only accept your conversion or your death, there is no basis for discussing differences. That's the reality.

If you share an apartment, and your roomy won't pay his share, pees on the seat, leaves crap about; after you repeatedly tell him that this must stop, what do you do?

If you own a shop, and local gangs break your windows to remind you that it's been a bit too long since you've paid for protection, what do you do?

If you're on an island with 3 others, and 2 decide they're hungry and want to eat you, what do you do?

If your country is mostly a pro-freedom paradise, compared to many parts of the world, and Iran: nationalizes your country-men's oil fields [1950s], kills 243 marines [via Hezbollah in Lebanon 1980s], holds your countrymen hostage [1979/80], is behind two embassy bombings [2000], is the spiritual fountainhead of Jihad, threatens to wipe out Israel, attacks Israel [via Hezbo], often has public marches chanting death to America, is processing components required for Nukes, align themselves with Chavez and alike, what do you do?

Look back thru history and you will see that all thru time, mankind has been plagued with tin horn dictators bent on world conquest. Well, things haven't changed.

Many people want world peace, but, with people like Saddam, countries like Iran and Syria, this wont happen.

From Khan to Hitler, to Stalin to Saddam to anyone who thinks that they have the right to exterminate a group of people because of race, religion or where they live, we will have war.

There is no quick fix, other than eternal vigilance. We tried in WW l and WW ll to close our eyes and hope things went away, but we got sucked right into the conflict. We tried to ignore Korea, and well, right in the middle of it.

If you have the secret for world peace, bring it on. You will always have Hawks and Doves. Most people really want peace, but are realistic and understand that greed is usually the driving force behind war or conflict.

It's the legacy of mankind. I know you desperately want to blame Bush, but there were wars constantly before him. Clinton bombed many a country.

Define "in peace" with the rest of the world. Is there peace? Was there peace in the Middle-East when the US wasn't involved? Was there peace in Africa? You're idealistic, but not realistic.

You speak of a peaceful world and yet call other people names? You should try looking in the mirror. I guess I am one of those people you call war monger. I happen to beleive that if it is possible to live in peace than by all means yes. Unfortunately some leaders of other countries don't want it that way. We got sucker punched on 9/11. I will not close my eyes to the evil out there again! Fool me once shame on them. Fool me twice shame on me!

I remember Rodney King saying "Can't we all just get along"
when he was dragged from his truck in California and beaten
for no good reason except driving down the street. So, guess
if we can't all just get along here in the U.S., it will almost be
impossible for countries to get along with diverse life styles.
When you believe you need to kill everyone that doesn't
believe in Islam, peace will never exist . It's a shame. If it
wasn't for these terrorists over there, we wouldn't need to be
helping the Iraq citizens who've been tortured and killed and
thrown in huge pits together to rot. That's why we're there....
to help the helpless. Can't you see that?

When it comes to Iraq, we tried talking and negotiating through the U.N. for 12 years, exactly how long should these talks last?
