Hey my dad is a writer his keys fall off al the time. He sends it to his tech team. So first try to fix it yourself. It's a minor issue no need to go out and buy a ney keyboard/laptop. Then if no luck talk to maybe a friend near by for ideas if still stuck bring it in to your local computer place like COMPUSA or a place like that.

What brand of laptop? I would replace the keyboard because the key you have lost the locking ability. Its easier to replace the keyboard than to find a replacement key.
I use a Dell laptop at work and it is under warranty. I called their hardware support to get a replacement keyboard.
The replacement keyboard is very easy to replace.

Mine has a spring pin on the key that goes into a little horizontal hole on the keyboard and then it snaps down.

Try to snap it back in. If not, check this site out: http://www.laptopkeys.co.uk/index.aspx
I know it is a UK site, but might help
