lock a folder in windows xp?

I have to lock a folder without using any software, I want to use windows security, please you show me the way

Just open folder click on "view" then "customize this folder" then open sharing tab then check the box marked "make this folder private".

you can try making it available only to you. this call be only allowing yourself rights to that folder. making the folder hidden.
